Janet & Ann
Janet & Ann met in a yoga class over a decade ago and were married on the day the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the Obergefell v. Hodges case.
Hope grew up in Westchester County, NY. After attending Wells College and the University of Vermont, Hope married a pilot and subsequently moved around with him while raising two sons. During that time she lived in South Carolina, California, Maryland, Virginia and Ohio. Following a divorce, she returned to the Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C. where over 30 years she built a successful career in residential real estate.
A second marriage took her back to Ohio. Upon her husband’s death she needed a fresh start and chose to retire in Asheville, North Carolina, where she lived for 5 years. In 2020 following a health scare, she moved to Lexington, KY mid-Covid to be near her son. She subsequently realized how much she missed Asheville and the mountains. Realizing that she would eventually need care and desiring more socialization, she began researching CCRC communities and found Legacy.
Hope is looking forward to once again engaging in her favorite Asheville activities – gardening, hiking, walking her dog, being part of a book club, joining community social events, attending Wortham Center and ACT performances, and dining at area restaurants. Her move to Lexington mid-Covid has made connecting there more difficult so she’s ready to return to the place she loves.
Hope hiked the Milford Track in New Zealand.
In addition to the ideal location, Legacy’s equity model plus its new and innovative approach to senior care were all attractive to Hope. In addition, she likes being able to have input as the Legacy community evolves.
Hope looks forward to helping foster a healthy lifestyle at Legacy from fitness to food. Wellness is a primary interest and goal.

While Barbara and Paul have enjoyed living in downtown Charleston, SC, they will not miss the growing threat of hurricanes, tidal flooding and the various impacts of climate change when they move to Legacy.
