Mills River is Growing

Western North Carolina is undergoing tremendous growth and many projects are underway to support that growth.  Take a look at the growth occurring in Legacy’s backyard, and some exciting projects as a result.

Mills River’s Largest Land Purchase Adds 70 Acres to Mills River Park

This summer, the town of Mills River completed its largest land purchase, adding 70 adjacent acres to the town hall and park complex.  The land acquisition makes Mills River Park one of the largest parks in the area. The current Mills River Park is 48 acres, bringing the complex to 118 acres.

Farmhouse at Tap Root development is now under construction in Fletcher

This master-planned community located on Butler Bridge Road is currently under construction to build 699 units on 297 acres.  The development, named “Farmhouse at Tap Root” includes single-level and 2-story homes and preserves 121 acres as open space.  Community features will include a 5,000-square-foot resort-style clubhouse with a gym, large pool, playground, pickleball courts, and dog park.  The development recently announced it was adding 270 more apartments on an additional 19.12 acres.  One-bedroom units are expected to start in the $1,200 a month range, and the other larger units will go up from there.

AdventHealth Breaks Ground on State-of-the-Art Medical Office Building

A groundbreaking event was held on October 10 on the site of AdventHealth’s new construction on its hospital campus just off Howard Gap Road in Hendersonville.  A 60,000-square-foot building will have new spaces for surgical procedures, physician offices, imaging, and laboratory services. The project is slated to open its doors for patient care in November 2024.

Permit to operate new grocery store across from Mills River Ingles approved

A developer from Raleigh is one step closer to making the possibility of a new grocery store in Mills River a reality after a unanimous vote by the Mills River Town Board of Adjustment for a special-use permit at its Oct. 10 meeting. Preliminary plans show the shopping center, located across the road from Ingles on Highway 280, contains approximately 50,750-square-foot grocery store (with a pharmacy drive-through) and approximately 10,800 square feet of general retail space in a separate building.  The application was submitted by Harris Development Partners in Raleigh. According to their website, Harris has managed many commercial development projects in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida and has collaborated with leading national tenants, including Publix, Whole Foods, Walmart, Walgreens, Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods and L.A. Fitness.
