ABOUT

Suzie was a former residence of Altamonte Springs, Florida, north of Orlando. Upon her retirement in 2004, she began spending the summer months in North Carolina at her family farm in …MILLS RIVER…which ironically is a few miles from the Legacy site. Then, in 2018, she made the decision to relocate to Asheville to be close to her daughter and grandchildren. Suzie’s 40 year career was spent exclusively in elementary education… first as a teacher, then a psychometrist, guidance counselor, assistant principal and, ultimately, principal. She retired confident that her contributions made a difference to the schools she served and to the lives of many children, developing teachers and receptive parents.

HOBBIES

Suzie’s list of interests, hobbies and activities is very lively and diverse! A lover of golf, she is introducing the game to her 2 grandsons, plays 9 holes every Tuesday at the Grove Park Inn as a member of the LPGA Amateurs and is also a member of the Asheville Golf Meet-up Group! Further, she is a member of the Asheville Newcomers Club and takes part in many of the related interest groups! She is a passholder at the Biltmore and the NC Arboretum and is a regular attendant at the UNCA Classes for Seniors -Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. As if that weren’t enough, she is the treasurer for her condo’s HOA, loves gardening, cooking, reading and entertaining.

SURPRISED TO KNOW

When Suzie was a teenager, her father owned a Cessna 150 airplane. She took lessons and, on her 16th birthday, soloed, got her pilot’s license and flew for several years before heading off to college!

WHY LEGACY?

Suzie began researching CCRCs in these past few years and, once she discovered Legacy at Mills River, she felt it was a natural and logical choice over all the other fee- based facilities in the area. Particularly attracted to the equity model, she quickly surmised that she could live out her life in a beautiful new, state- of- the art condo that she owns, build equity and provide that benefit to her heirs. Additionally, she states that one look at the Legacy site map illustrates Legacy’s commitment to green space, an active lifestyle, a sense of community and a future phase. The “icing on the cake” as she puts it, was the opportunity to capitalize on being a Founding Guild Member with all of the relative benefits!

FUTURE AT LEGACY

Suzie is excited to be part of the character, heart and soul of this new community. She also acknowledges that the Legacy development team is client- centered, welcoming resident’s opinions and suggestions.
