Formerly residents of the beautiful state of New Hampshire, the Evans’ traded the mountains of Grantham, NH for that of the nearby Blue Ridge Mountain town of Boone, where they have lived for the past five years. Prior to retirement, Jim was a Navy aviator and professional corporate pilot. Jan was a doctor of diagnostic radiology.
Jim’s passion for the blue skies continues to be fed in retirement maintaining and flying his own plane. As a lover of beauty and flight, he also reveres “his” birds at the bird feeder! Jan spends her time honing her cooking skills, loves a good book, and enjoys venturing out for a lovely walk with Jim on the various hiking trails that surround their home. Both Jim and Jan allow nature to set the stage for their shared goal of capturing the moment through photography. This is especially true as they travel often on nature and wildlife adventures…prior to the pandemic…and are planning on resuming post-coronavirus!
Avid travelers, the Evans discovered a unique cruise that one of their favorite places in the world is South Georgia Island in the South Atlantic Ocean. Jan says it is the most beautiful location on this planet that she has ever seen! However, from there they ventured north to Tristan da Cunha, a group of volcanic islands which is the most remote inhabited archipelago in the world! So, if you are interested in discovering what jewels the South Atlantic Ocean has to offer, you may want to consult the Evans!
After experiencing the sudden need to relocate their parents and having no children of their own to depend on, the Evans’ realized the vital importance of the continuing care facilities and services offered at Legacy. They also acknowledged the huge benefit of the equity model of home ownership minus the overall burden of major home maintenance which they presently have with their Boone residence. The beauty of the location, new construction and design, and the wide variety of activities all were deemed very appealing to the couple. They particularly look forward to the dining experience on the top level of the Manor Home building and taking in the panoramic views! Lastly, both in New Hampshire and in Boone, many of their neighbors were seasonal residents while the Evans, in both locations, were year-round. So, the prospect of living in a year-round community is one silver lining of Legacy that they truly look to embrace with great pleasure.
With both their easy-going dispositions and varied interests, Jan and Jim anticipate making new friends and exploring all the many activities that Legacy will offer them.
