ABOUT

Lonny and Flip spent most of their professional careers in Rochester, NY amid icy winters, so their 2012 retirement move to the Cliffs at Glassy on Glassy Mountain located in SC just over the border from NC, has given them the welcome change of sunshine and generally good golfing weather.

Philip (“Flip”) was a financial planner and ran a stock brokerage firm in Rochester, N.Y.

Lonny was a trial attorney and Partner in a large New York law firm based in Rochester, NY.  In 1993 she left to start her own litigation firm, which specialized in labor and employment law cases throughout the country.  Upon retirement, she served as President of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers with offices in the District of Columbia.

HOBBIES

Flip and Lonny are avid travelers and have traveled extensively all over the world.  They enjoy golf, boating, scuba diving, and playing cards. Flip is still involved with the stock market and enjoys daily “walk-abouts” near their mountain home.  Lonny likes to spend time reading, playing Maj Jong and serving on numerous committees and boards.

SURPRISED TO KNOW

Flip and Lonny met online in 2008 and bonded over their mutual love of traveling, skiing, boating and scuba diving.  They have a blended family of 4 children and 4 granddaughters.  The last two of their granddaughters were born within a month of each other four years ago.

WHY LEGACY?

Lonny and Flip have come to love the beauty and people of the Western Carolinas. They were looking for a continuing care community near where they currently live. Legacy, with its natural beauty and proximity to Greenville, Hendersonville and Asheville, not to mention the Asheville Regional Airport that will make traveling easy – made a perfect location fit. The chance to join a newly built community that already is creating a welcoming and active environment and will fit their future needs added to the plus column of considerations. Add to that the experienced and reputable developers and managers – Beverly Grant, Inc and Retirement Living Association, the engaging sales team and the other Founding Guild members, well, it was an easy decision to choose Legacy for their next address.

FUTURE AT LEGACY

Lonny and Flip served on the Board of Directors and then as President of the Cliffs at Glassy POA.  She was actively involved in the creation of its capital improvement plan and was instrumental in amending the Association’s rules, regulations and use restrictions.  She would be interested in using her experience to work with the Legacy community on its committees.  Flip is interested in finding people to play golf with and to start a monthly scotch club. And they are looking forward to more visits from their children and grandchildren as they know they will love Lonny and Flip’s new home.
