ABOUT

Jean and Steve Dodge live in beautiful southern New Hampshire where they have resided for the past 41 years! Their prior homes were located in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts– North Easterners to the core! Prior to retirement, Steve was a radiological health physicist and root cause analyst working at the Seabrook NH nuclear power station. Jean was a 7th and 8th grade math teacher.

HOBBIES

A lover of all things nature, Steve is a collector of magnificent images from around the world and listening to music. He also enjoys playing cards…which he shares with Jean! In fact, Jean enjoys all types of games! She also delights in creating beautiful works of embroidery. Baking is another of her favorite pastimes… so if you happen to pass the Dodge residence, you may be tantalized by some delicious sweet aromas emanating from their Legacy home!

SURPRISED TO KNOW

Steve participated in overhauling nuclear submarines and Jean contributed in the design of the Trident submarines!

WHY LEGACY?

According to the Dodges, Legacy is “the perfect fit”! First , they were attracted to the location in Western North Carolina with the centralized geographic of Mills River and accessibility to Asheville, Hendersonville and Brevard …while there is tremendous beauty in Amherst, the weather and overall climate will be a kinder and more gentle version in their future home here at Legacy! As conveyed on the website, the grounds and layout of the community was also an attractive feature that appealed to both Jean and Steve…even sight unseen! As with most depositors, they are huge fans of the equity model!! They both loved the proposed common area atmosphere, number of social gathering places throughout the Appalachian Building and the pool is especially a key feature for both. The Cedargrain floor plan was the ideal selection for their needs and combined with the continuing care provisions provided the necessary security and comfort they were seeking.

FUTURE AT LEGACY

As for their contribution to the Legacy community… they plan on bringing an essence of great enthusiasm… as they believe it is truly contagious!! Meeting and socializing with others is high on their lists of anticipation!

Janet & Ann met in a yoga class over a decade ago and were married on the day the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the Obergefell v. Hodges case.

Barbara and Paul

While Barbara and Paul have enjoyed living in downtown Charleston, SC, they will not miss the growing threat of hurricanes, tidal flooding and the various impacts of climate change when they move to Legacy.
