ABOUT
As native southerners, Robin was raised in Oklahoma and Carolyn in Texas. Both now retired physicians, they met in college and relocated after med school to the San Francisco Bay Area where they lived for 35 years. After they both served in the Navy, Robin practiced Maternal-Fetal Medicine in San Francisco and Carolyn was an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist in Menlo Park, a suburb of San Francisco. They retired 10 years ago and moved to the small gold mining town of Volcano, nestled in California’s beautiful Sierra Foothills. The increasing incidence of fire danger throughout the western states encouraged them to consider leaving California for an equally beautiful and enjoyable environment…and their search landed them in the Appalachian Mountain region…and their reservation at Legacy!
HOBBIES
Since retirement, their extensive travels have taken them to all seven continents! Back home in Volcano, Carolyn volunteers at the local wildlife rescue center while Robin volunteers with the coalition coordinating local perinatal mental health services.
SURPRISED TO KNOW
Both Robin and Carolyn are self professed “eclipto-manics”! Since 1991, they have repeatedly managed to position themselves in the shadow of the moon allowing them to witness 18 solar eclipses!!
WHY LEGACY?
Tired of dealing with the increasing fire danger and resulting summer smoke in California, Robin’s brother convinced them to come breathe the clean air of Western North Carolina! In doing so, they discovered Legacy at Mills River… and of all the CCRC’s they researched, they were most impressed with Legacy’s equity model and its vision of a comfortable and secure future.
FUTURE AT LEGACY
While their list of interests in Legacy are many, the top three are the opportunity to enter on the ground level of the project…therefore becoming Founding Guild Members with all the related benefits, to have input into the design of their Legacy home, and to develop relationships within a new community.
