ABOUT

Linda and her late husband lived in New Jersey when they were raising their three children. Later they lived in Toronto, Canada for a few years prior to retirement. With retirement, in 2000, came the big decision to relocate and put down roots in Travelers Rest, South Carolina in the golf community of the Cliffs Valley, where they built a home designed by their youngest son! In 2011, Linda’s husband succumbed to his battle with pancreatic cancer.

Kris and his late wife, both from Iowa, raised their two children while working across multiple US states with international assignments in Germany and England. Kris pursues a career in industrial automation technologies and also planned his retirement in Travels Rest.

Then, in 2017, Linda met Kris, who had lost his late-wife also to cancer, and the two discovered that they had many things in common. They got engaged and married in 2018 and then set to the task of combining households and beginning their life together. Their family grew to a collective five children and eight grandchildren who are spread out all over the country! This keeps Linda and Kris on their toes doing lots of traveling throughout the year!

HOBBIES

Linda is an accomplished watercolor and acrylic artist who shared her talent at the elementary school level and later taught children and adults through two Art Associations that she was a member of in Western New Jersey. She has also exhibited her paintings in conjunction with the Art Association in Greenville, SC. She enjoys golf (will be in good company at Legacy), reading… might be a book club or two in her future… and flower gardening…and a community garden calling her name!

Kris, too, thoroughly enjoys the sport of golf and this couple presently play a few times a week! Kris is also an avid bicyclist who leads a group of riders on some challenging terrain a few times a week! During the winter seasons, he skis and enjoys wood working.

They lead an active social life and, once they married, enjoy socializing with new and mutual many groups of friends. They play Bocce Ball and have tried Pickle Ball, both of which they will enjoy on the Legacy site!

SURPRISED TO KNOW

Linda grew up in a small rural town, Arcola, Illinois, that is the Broom Corn Capitol of the United States!
Kris grew up on a dairy farm in NE Iowa and passed on the opportunity to become the 4th generation proprietor on the Bierbaum Family Farm.

WHY LEGACY?

Kris and Linda are attracted to the location, beauty of the site, the variety of floorplans and, most specifically, the equity model of home ownership. Having had the benefit of interacting at the Spring and Fall Founding Guild Member events this year, they found their future neighbors to be very genuine. And, finally, the timing relative to occupying their home at Legacy works out well for them.

FUTURE AT LEGACY

The greatest asset of Legacy in the eyes of Kris and Linda is the many plans for the residents to continue and foster an active lifestyle.
