ABOUT
As future Legacy residents, Shannon and Joe may be unique in that they are natives of WNC, having lived their entire lives in Buncombe and Henderson Counties. Currently they live in a lovely neighborhood in south Asheville with a part-time home in Litchfield Beach, South Carolina. Prior to that they spent some wonderful years as part-time residents on the lake at Keowee Vineyards, Salem, South Carolina.
Shannon is a graduate of Women’s College (now UNC at Greensboro) with a BFA degree in education. Later she became certified in library science and worked for several years at a local high school as a media coordinator.
After completing his business degree in a co-op program at the University of Tennessee, Joe returned to American Enka where he coordinated the distribution of textile products nationally and internationally. When offered an opportunity to become a business owner, Joe and a family member established a company which sold point-of-sale equipment to grocery stores. Once the business was sold, he and his partner became involved in real estate.
HOBBIES
Shannon says her passion is her flower garden, but her obsession is searching for their family heritage. Joe is an avid sports fan and an enthusiastic golfer who continues to shoot his age on the golf course.
They cheer for the Braves, Red Sox, UT, Clemson, UNC and now that their grandson is enrolled at NCSU they will wear their red Legacy vests for those games!

The Wards plan to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary at Legacy at Mills River!
WHY LEGACY?
The Wards felt it is time to make a plan for themselves and for their children. They were pleased to discover that Legacy offers an investment plan that will also provide them with medical care, should they need it, as they age in place.
