ABOUT

The Peele’s hail from Eastern North Carolina in several locations until settling in Frisco on Hatteras Island for 15 years. In 2017, they moved to Asheville and took up residence at the Crowfields Condominiums. In his professional life, Charles worked for Donnelly Marketing, a subsidiary of Dun & Bradstreet, then as an agent with Prudential before retiring in 2004. After 27 years with the United States Coast Guard, he also retired from that post in 1994. Susan worked as a Special Education teacher and then Director of Early Childhood Services in Rockingham County until she retired from that position in 2004. However, prior to that departure, in 2002, she opened an early childhood consulting business that provided services nationally. While building that business, she simultaneously served the State of North Carolina under Governor Easley as a program development team member for the North Carolina Early Childhood program initiative. In 2017, Susan welcomed full retirement!

HOBBIES

Charles is an avid whitetail deer hunter and spends much time October to December at his hunt club outside Tarboro, NC. He enjoys reading, working the 3 plots in the community gardens…and has developed a recent interest in growing mushrooms! Susan is very active in the Crowfields community serving as secretary for the HOA and on a variety of committees. She is also an affiliate on the Education and Advocacy Council for the Buncombe County Partnership for Children. She spends much of her free time in the gardens growing vegetables, flowers, berries, and loves to cook and entertain, plays mahjong and bridge, and enjoys participating in water aerobics. Both Charles and Susan enjoy traveling nationally and internationally and look forward to more once it is safe to do so.

SURPRISED TO KNOW

Charles and Susan met one summer when Susan was in college and landed a summer job…. and Charles was her boss! This couple share the same middle name, Elliott, and they are both left-handed.

WHY LEGACY?

The Peele’s son is a Vice-President at Beverly-Grant, Inc., builder for Legacy and consequently the Peele’s have been involved with Legacy since its inception. Their plan has always been to locate near their children (at least one) at a facility where they will have access to the services needed in later years… Legacy was their perfect fit!

FUTURE AT LEGACY

The Peele’s call Legacy “one stop shopping”! Charles and Susan look forward to the diverse availability of medical services and amenities, continuing to garden and rumor has it that one of them has eyes on the fishing pond! Topped off with a beautiful home customized to their likes and needs, in their view, it is simply the amazing full package!
