Cheryl and Gary both grew up on farms in Eastern Oregon but spent their adult years further east in Michigan, Minnesota, and Florida with shorter stints in North Carolina and Chicago. For many years they were typical snowbirds. When it came time to retire and leave Minneapolis, they chose Marco Island, FL where they have been for almost nine years.
Gary started as a nutritionist for the Kellogg Company but soon gravitated to general management and had a long career in a variety of corporate roles. Cheryl worked in both education and business before she retired and became a full-time artist. They have two grown children and four grandsons.
Gary fishes, plays golf and follows the political scene. Cheryl works in her studio most days making fiber art. See her website at cherylcostley.com. Both Cheryl and Gary enjoy hiking, try to exercise regularly, follow a pescatarian diet and are ecologically minded.
SURPRISED TO KNOW
The Costleys met in a pig pen! They say that revelation always makes for interesting dinner conversation. They also hiked in and out of the Grand Canyon (many years ago) on the same day.
Cheryl and Gary like the Legacy equity model, the apparent casualness of the planned environment and have always thought they would live near mountains someday.
FUTURE AT LEGACY
The Costleys are people-people so are looking forward to being with other good neighbors and making new friends.
Legacy at Mills River will be a sustainably-designed Continuing Care Retirement Community, located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, offering equity ownership. Residents hold the deed to their own property: a stunning home designed for 21st Century convenience and following LEED principles for eco-friendly construction.
