Bill and Pat moved to Asheville from Atlanta in 1976. They live on a ridge top in the forest off Elk Mountain Scenic Highway in north Asheville. Bill grew up in Decatur GA and was an architect in private practice until retirement. For over 30 years Pat served as the Office Manager for their architecture practice.
Both Pat and Bill spend hours gardening, an activity they really enjoy. In addition, Pat likes to cook and read. Bill likes to make things and do home repairs.
SURPRISED TO KNOW
Bill and Pat took six-months when they moved from Atlanta to Asheville to tour the U.S. in their VW van!
Pat has an interesting perspective on retirement living having served as the Residence Director at the Highland Farms community (now Givens Highland Farms) in Black Mountain, prior to working with Bill in their architectural firm.
Bill and Pat like the rural location and the more intimate nature of Legacy since they’ll be moving from their quiet 40- acre property. They like the CCRC equity model and that Legacy will be a new community. In addition, they will be closer to family in Hendersonville.
FUTURE AT LEGACY
Bill and Pat look forward to contributing to life at Legacy through volunteering and participation.
Legacy at Mills River will be a sustainably-designed Continuing Care Retirement Community, located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, offering equity ownership. Residents hold the deed to their own property: a stunning home designed for 21st Century convenience and following LEED principles for eco-friendly construction.
